Event

Are you an aerodynamics guru waiting to test your latest hypothetical design? Or do you pride yourself in being the meanest paper plane chucker in class? If you are either (or both) TechFlight is the event for you. Who will win the battle? Will theory triumph or experience reign supreme? Come find out in TechFlight!

Format

Every team will be given:

• a couple of numbered A-3 sheets to materialize a design
• one A-4 sheet for the rough work
• a pair of scissors, stapler, glue, cello tape and other necessary items

Round 1
Teams will be allotted one hour. They will then have to launch their planes from a starting point. Every team will be given two chances to fly their plane. 10 planes will proceed to the second stage.

Round 2
Teams now have the liberty to modify their design if they feel it necessary within 15 minutes. The winner will be declared after another round of launches.

Rules and Regulations

A team must consist of 2 members.
• Planes must be made only out of the material provided. Every plane will be allotted a number, and this number will be noted. Before launch, each plane will be inspected by a volunteer for authenticity, by matching its number with the noted numbers.
• Any violation may lead to disqualification.

Eligibility
Open to all college students with valid ID cards.

Judgement and Evaluation

A score will be calculated for every plane based on the following two parameters:

• Time of flight
• Displacement (from the starting point)

The decision of the judges/organisers will be final and binding under all circumstances.
