Format

The challenge | A raw material with unique properties waiting to be converted into a marketable product useful to mankind.

The motive | To test your judgement of utility and ability of design as much as your imagination.

The job | Given a brief description of the properties of a raw material, suggest a product that it can be used to make. Then prepare an information brochure describing the product and how it uses its unique properties. Elaborate on how the product proves to be of use to mankind.

The lowdown | A good brochure will give detailed information of the product and its utilities with a neat sketch. An attractive caption to market the product will help too. Participants may go through information brochures used by industry to market products.

Online Prelims
The participants have to email their entries. Selected entries will be called for the finals during Conscientia.

Finals
A different problem statement, a higher difficulty level. On the spot.

Rules and Regulations

• A team may consist of a maximum of 3 members.
• Only one entry is allowed per team.
• In case of multiple entries only the first entry will be considered.
• Send your entries in .pdf format only to the email address mentioned here, with the subject "PRAGMATICUS ROUND 1 ENTRY". Do not forget to mention your names, contact numbers and Conscientia 2010 Registration Pin.

Eligibility
Open to all college students with valid ID cards. A team may consist of members from different colleges.

Judgement and Evaluation

The entries will be evaluated by a panel of judges. The decision of the judges will be final under all circumstances. The criteria for judgement are, in order:

• How well the product uses its unique properties
• Usefulness of the product
• Originality
• Presentation in the brochure

The decision of the judges will be final and binding under all circumstances.
