TGPA is an algorithm intensive contest with problems from a wide variety of areas. Just solving a problem isn't enough. The elegance of your code will establish you as the undisputed master of The Grand Programming Arena.

For The Newbies

This is the best time to start learning. This contest just requires a basic knowledge of C/C++ to begin with. All it requires on your part is the competitiveness to code for 5 to 6 hours at a stretch.

Format

• TGPA will begin at 1200hrs on 28th February 2010. The contest page can be accessed from the link given below.
• The problems in the contest will require knowledge of data structures in C and their implementation for algorithms in Graph Theory.
• All programs will be compiled using the latest stable version of gcc/g++ (recommended for all Windows fanatics to get familiar with first).
• Guidelines and Hints will be posted in this forum. Post your queries also in the same forum.
• For new registrations, please register directly at the Contest Link and send in your team members names along with your CodeChef ID to eclectic[at]conscientia[dot]co[dot]in.

Rules and Regulations

• A team may consist of a maximum of 3 members.
• Only C/C++ will be allowed for coding.

Eligibility
Open to all college students with valid ID cards.

Judgement and Evaluation

The basic criterion will be solution of the given problem statement within specified time limit. The run time of the program as well as the time of submission will also have some weightage.

The decision of the judges will be final and binding under all circumstances.

• Getting Familiar with GCC/G++
  • GCC is the GNU C Compiler which includes front ends for C, C++, Objective-C, Fortran, Java etc.

  • DJGPP is a windows port for GCC. Dev-cpp is a full Integrated Development Environment for GCC on windows.
  • Cygwin is a Unix like environment for windows, which also could be used for programming on windows machines.

There is no guarantee that programs compiled using these ports will work properly during TGPA. We suggest you use a native Linux machine with GCC. (Best alternative is using a Live CD - Get Ubuntu)
